"GLASNACARDOCH SHORE"
A short scramble across the shore takes us to the “Smuggler’s Cave” before we head south in the hill roughly following the shoreline but sticking to the higher ground. This little bit of height allows some quite different views of Skye and the Small Isles and takes us to the lunch stop on the north shore of the famous “Silver Sands of Morar”. On leaving this idyllic spot with sated appetites, some little exercise is called for and duly delivered as we climb to the cairn marking the summit of “Radio Mast Hill”. From here, a long gentle descent will bring us back to the start point.

"Egnaig" Angus Macintyre |
"EGNAIG AND THE NORTH CHANNEL"
This walk is suitable for most people as any climbing is confined to the tarred ascent on the return to the start! Despite this, you are well advised to wear suitable footwear as part of the distance is actually on the shore which can be slippery if just vacated by the tide! Although short on distance, only some 2 kilometres each way, it is nonetheless long on atmosphere as you prowl the ruins of the village of Egnaig and lunch in the perfect spot looking for the occasional otter or the splendid sight of a leaping salmon as it seeks the freshwater of its birth.
Meet at the road junction for the island of “Shona Beag” O.S.Grid Ref: NM 673 744 approximately 2.5k (just under 2mls) south of the village of “Glenuig” on the A861. Time dependant on tide, please phone for details to either 01687 462 983 or 01967 402 232.

"Beasedale Circle" Angus Macintyre |
"GLEN
BEASEDALE CIRCLE"
Don’t miss this one if you have the time!
Starting from the railway bridge at the foot of Glen Beasdale this walk takes us, in stepped stages, up the ridge on the south side of the glen. Although one or two of the steps are slightly steep, all are short and are taken at a civilized pace! In any case, each rise rewards us with a different spectacular view until the summit at 1100 ft. (340 mtrs.) is reached. One more wee scramble is now called for before lunch can be enjoyed prior to beginning the easy descent via the old drovers’ path down the Glen back to the start.
Meet in the long lay-bye on the south side of the railway bridge at the foot of Glen Beasdale. (O.S. Grid Ref. NM 714 848) at 11.30 am.

"SHEILINGS AND CAIRNS"
"THE OLD SHIELING"
This walk follows an easy path which, after “ducking” under the A830 and skirting the “Mointeach Mhor”, eventually runs out at the remains of an old “shieling” close to the “West Highland Railway Line”, Here, once lunch has been enjoyed, we begin the easy ascent and descent of the adjoining hill before once again “ducking” under a different place on the road and re-joining the hill to reach the “Camusdarach Cairns”. From here there only remains the walk back to the start point near the shore.
Meet at the south entrance to “Traigh Farm” on the B8008 (roughly 3 mls. north of Arisaig) at 11.30 am. Take packed lunch and suitable footwear and clothing.

 |
"ARISAIG TRIANGLE"
This is a more robust outing involving the completion of what everyone says that they must do someday! Although the conquering of the three spectacular peaks that “tower?” over Arisaig looks daunting, don’t be put off as the climb is taken at a gentle pace with frequent stops for photography (and breath!). Sitting by the cairn atop “Sgurr an t Sasunnaich” is hard to better, but methinks that the lunch stop above the “Creag Mhor” cliff will take the breath away. The best is still to come as the peak of “Sgurr an Albanaich” at 394 mtrs. lords it over the panoramic vista which, on a clear day, allows views of distant islands some sixty miles away!
Meet at Arisaig railway station at 11.30am. Please bring plenty of liquid, a packed lunch and suitable clothing and footwear.
